Private Training

Whether your dog is a new addition to your household or already a beloved member of the family, we can work with you and your dog one-on-one with our highly effective Private Lessons. Your dog can become the best companion you’ve ever had. This is ideal for people who want the entire household involved in the training, so the dog responds to everyone. Seniors and people with limited mobility love in-home training. Personal classes like these focus on your dog–unlike group classes where you are lucky to get 10 minutes of the trainer’s time in a one-hour class. If you don’t have the time to devote to the training or want to see quick changes in your dog’s behavior, we can train the dog for you in our Day Training Program. Best of all, both of these training scenarios occur at your home at a time that is convenient to your family.

Our Training Programs Include

Puppy Training

Crate training, housebreaking, stopping dog nipping, socialization with other dogs, interacting with children, “puppy proofing” your home and yard, as well as introductory obedience skills.

Dog Training

Sit, stay, come, down, “leave it”, “off”, leash walking, greeting other dogs, tricks and games, off-leash control.

These behavior issues are addressed at all levels of training: pulling on the leash, jumping up, bolting out the door, nuisance barking, nipping, and food guarding.

Let’s Get Started!

The Process Is Easy

Step One
At the initial 90 minute consultation we evaluate your dog’s behavior, his training requirements and your goals. Together we establish a customized training program for your dog. Then we begin right away with the appropriate training exercises.

Step Two
Each one-on-one training session or Day Training session lasts 60 minutes. Owners are given a written review of the behaviors covered and a practice assignment for the next session.

Step Three
We offer continuing training to polish the skills listed above and then focus on off-leash work, games and tricks. These sessions are structured to take into consideration your goals for the dog, the speed at which your dog learns and your ability to consistently practice the behaviors. Some clients may wish to train their dog for service work at this time. Refer to Adapting your Dog For Service Work.

The Private Training and Day Training services are offered at $150 per hour, payable by check or cash. Basic Training requires a commitment to at least four sessions ($600) in order that you and your dog have the best opportunity to succeed.
